# MINOR UTILS

{% hint style="info" %}
*Version tested here: 1.5.5*
{% endhint %}

[Minor Utils](https://cartographyassets.com/assets/51652/minor-utils/) is a toolbox that adds many small features to enhance the core experience of Dungeondraft:

* Additional buttons to the main tools panel
* Configurable shortcuts for all the tools and other features
* Templates for the Scatter Tool
* Walls sorting options in the Select Tool
* Bevel Corners button added for walls in the Selection Tool
* Persisting grid visibility across sessions and Bevel Corner settings
* Random mirroring in the Scatter Tool

## SHORTCUT CONFIGURATION

The mod adds a new tool in the [Settings](/guide/all-the-tools/settings-tab.md) tab, called **Shortcut Configuration**.

<figure><img src="/files/Oz19QepFqAPmNab9JPJ0" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Clicking on it will display the list of tools associated with buttons.

<figure><img src="/files/aYU6zuQckEfFKzBiMIvp" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

For each tool, the first column of <kbd><mark style="color:blue;">**ON/OFF**<mark style="color:blue;"></kbd> buttons will toggle a **new button** in the left bar for easy access, similar to the optional vanilla[^1] [hotbar](/guide/introduction/new-map-first-steps/new-map-overview.md#bottom-toolbar) from recent versions.&#x20;

For example, if I want a direct access to the [Path Tool](/guide/all-the-tools/terrain-tab/path-tool.md) on the left, I can toggle the first <kbd><mark style="color:blue;">**ON/OFF**<mark style="color:blue;"></kbd> button on its line.

<figure><img src="/files/GhcILoERZNzi1pC9Nwea" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

The second <kbd><mark style="color:blue;">**ON/OFF**<mark style="color:blue;"></kbd> column enables a keyboard shortcut for each tool.&#x20;

Here's the full list of shortcuts added by the mod:

<figure><img src="/files/MfSddzdVZSgHxtvsCGcO" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

The mod also adds 4 other shortcuts to help you manage [asset sorting](/guide/general-info/layers-and-sorting.md) more easily:&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/QeMDyyScJtpQcSCpvG3x" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="danger" %}
You'll need to have [\_Lib](/guide/custom-assets-and-mods/some-useful-mods/_lib.md) enabled to be able to see and edit all the mod's shortcuts in [Preferences](/guide/introduction/first-look/main-menu.md#preferences).

When if \_Lib is disabled, you'll see in Preferences only the shortcuts you've enabled, and won't be able to access to the sorting ones.
{% endhint %}

## PERSISTING GRID VISIBILITY

When this mod is enabled, it will automatically remember if your [grid](/guide/introduction/new-map-first-steps/useful-interface-buttons.md) was displayed or hidden last time you closed Dungeondraft, and will display it accordingly.

{% hint style="info" %}
Vanilla Dungendraft always displays the grid when you open or create a map.
{% endhint %}

## BETTER SCATTER TOOL

### Random Mirror

The mod adds a **Random Mirror** button in the [Scatter Tool](/guide/all-the-tools/objects-tab/scatter-tool.md). If enabled, it will randomly mirror assets during their placement for more visual variety.

<figure><img src="/files/Sr4qDAjLWkOFFiSLDjtI" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Scatter Templates

If you have [\_Lib](/guide/custom-assets-and-mods/some-useful-mods/_lib.md) enabled, you can go into [Preferences](/guide/introduction/first-look/main-menu.md#preferences) to have access to Minor Tool's settings and enable the possibility to store and use your own templates for the **Scatter Tool**.

<figure><img src="/files/K2mdKrAzFkDfYFato0CB" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

<figure><img src="/files/3wA4EZ2ODjLj1tt3jhvk" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Once this option is activated, a new toolbar will appear in the left panel.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/gyDe8I1GvIqYOgeMHoR7" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

\
With this bar, you'll now be able to create and edit scatter presets and groups of presets.

**Presets**

When the icon ![](/files/5zya2NkJ4IEJmrWf24Uo) is **white**, you're in Preset mode. Each setting and every selected asset can be remembered inside of a single preset so it can be easily accessed later.

You can add a new preset by clicking on the dropdown menu.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/mWcmAoqVaayDcX3TwNDK" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Groups**

When the icon ![](/files/EvUY0bx9DnJOSt1wwpzP) is **blue**, you're in Group mode. You can make several groups so presets to sort your presets (for example if you have several custom asset packs).&#x20;

You can add a new preset by clicking on the dropdown menu.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/JK3YsgRtjAQxR4c7P3mn" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Other Icons**

![](/files/F7St5YcTBUwD0q3c8Xru) : Save each Preset

![](/files/12HczskZ5UXeWsGLg8AE) : Rename each Preset or Setting

![](/files/dmYc51eErb9zUqAUSXFQ) : Delete each Preset or Setting

## BETTER WALL TOOL

By selecting a [Wall](/guide/all-the-tools/design-tab/wall-tool.md) in the [Selection Tool](/guide/all-the-tools/select-tool.md), you have now access to the <kbd><mark style="color:blue;">**Bring To Front**<mark style="color:blue;"></kbd> and to the <kbd><mark style="color:blue;">**Send To Back**<mark style="color:blue;"></kbd> buttons.

<figure><img src="/files/87R8gFiusseFzsaIQjO8" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

You also have access to the [Bevel Corners](/guide/all-the-tools/design-tab/wall-tool.md#changing-corner-type) button in the Selection Tool.

## PREFERENCES

When [\_Lib](/guide/custom-assets-and-mods/some-useful-mods/_lib.md) is installed, you have access to the mod's [Preferences](/guide/custom-assets-and-mods/some-useful-mods/_lib.md#mod-list-and-mod-settings).&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/EKsMa5qkBmBwoExWFZ8G" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

* **Selected Asset Layer Differences Preserved on Layer Up**

When you use the keyboard shortcuts to move assets on another layer, disabling this option will put all the assets on the same layer regardless of what layer they were on. Enabling this option will keep the layer order and just move everything on different layers.

* **Show Optional Scatter Presets**

Scatter Presets were discussed [here](#scatter-templates).

* **Hide Default Object Shadows**

Hides the **Shadow button** in the [Objects Tool](/guide/all-the-tools/objects-tab/objects-tool.md#shadow) and the [Selection Tool](/guide/all-the-tools/select-tool.md). *Does not turn Shadow off.*

* **Hide Default Wall Shadows**

Hides the **Shadow button** in the [Wall Tool](/guide/all-the-tools/design-tab/wall-tool.md#shadow) and the [Selection Tool](/guide/all-the-tools/select-tool.md). *Does not turn Shadow off.*

* **Hide And Disable Bevel Wall Option**

Hides and disable the Bevel Corner **button** in the [Wall Tool](/guide/all-the-tools/design-tab/wall-tool.md#changing-corner-type) and the [Selection Tool](/guide/all-the-tools/select-tool.md).&#x20;

### **Known Limitations**

* Performance may be impacted, although it had never been reported to this day.
* Using this mod with other mods that directly update the in built tool panels may result in inconsistent behaviour although at time of writing there are no known incompatibilities.
* Using this mod without [\_Lib](/guide/custom-assets-and-mods/some-useful-mods/_lib.md) or with an untested version of it can prevent you from accessing the shortcuts window.

Usually, creators post some minor updates of their mods on [Discord](https://discord.com/invite/J9Czgpu) and release a bigger update from time to time on [CartographyAssets.com](https://cartographyassets.com/asset-category/specific-assets/dungeondraft/mods-scripts/), so if you're missing some features from there, you might find the most recent version on Discord.
