### **Merging and continuing walls**&#x20;

{% hint style="success" %}

* Works with lines and corners
  {% endhint %}

{% hint style="danger" %}

* Requires **Snap To Grid**
* Doesn’t work with T or X intersections.
* Requires connecting the **same wall types**
  {% endhint %}

**Merging**

Draw the first wall, then hold <kbd>CTRL</kbd> or <kbd>CMD</kbd> while drawing a wall until you meet a second wall end.&#x20;

You can also merge two meeting walls with the <kbd><mark style="color:blue;">**Merge**<mark style="color:blue;"></kbd> button in the [Selection Tool](/guide/all-the-tools/select-tool/contextual-controls.md#walls).&#x20;

**Continuing**\
Draw the first wall, then place your mouse on the end of the wall and hold <kbd>CTRL</kbd> or <kbd>CMD</kbd> while drawing a new wall.&#x20;

### Sorting positions

Use the [**Sorting tab (Over and Under)**](/guide/general-info/layers-and-sorting.md) to set a wall to appear above or below others when drawing.

### Color

Change the **color** of the wall or the floor by clicking on the box below each library. The small arrow on the right resets the color to default.

✅ ***Pro Tip:** Use the **Selection Tool** to **replace** existing walls (works also for paths, patterns and lights)*
{% endhint %}

## USEFUL INFO

{% hint style="warning" %}

### 📌 Good to know 📌&#x20;

* Walls can’t be moved, you can only edit their points.<br>
* Walls [block light](/guide/all-the-tools/effects-tab/light-tool.md#blocked-light) by default.<br>
* Editing a **Wall** in **Edit Points** mode will remove any **Portal** placed on it.<br>
* Using the [UVTT format](/guide/final-steps/exporting-your-map/universal-vtt.md) at Export will let you import the file in different VTT programs like Roll20 or FoundryVTT that can read that format. The walls will then be detected and block the players’ movement and sight if your VTT allows it.<br>
* Since Dungeondraft 1.1.1.1, all the default Walls are available as [Paths](/guide/all-the-tools/terrain-tab/path-tool.md) too.<br>
* Walls from the Wall Tool don't interact with cave walls from the [Cave Tool](/guide/all-the-tools/design-tab/cave-brush.md) but walls from the [Building Tool](/guide/all-the-tools/design-tab/building-tool.md) do.
  {% endhint %}

{% hint style="danger" %}

### KNOWN BUGS

**Version:**\
\&#xNAN;*At least from 1.1.0.6 to 1.2.0.0*

**Bug description:**\
[*Editing Points*](/guide/all-the-tools/design-tab/wall-tool.md#editing-wall-points) *on a Wall after placing* [*Portals*](/guide/all-the-tools/design-tab/portal-tool.md) *will often result in some weird behavior.*&#x20;

**Workaround:**\
**-** *If the issue is about portals that can't be placed where they should, saving and reopening the map should fix it.*\
*- If the issue is making walls go crazy, remove the portals and edit points again.*<br>
